Call for Independent Investigation Into Vancouver's Contract with Ken Dobell
Vision Vancouver - Media Release - Vision Vancouver is calling for an independent investigation into the contract signed by Ken Dobell with the City of Vancouver to see if it is in a conflict of interest with his contract as Premier Campbell's Special Adviser.
"It is time that we get some clear answers regarding the nature of Mr. Dobell's work for the city and the province," said Vision Vancouver Caucus Chair Heather Deal. "We will be requesting a full investigation into the contracts that Mr. Dobell has signed with both the City of Vancouver and the Premier's Office. Recent reports suggest that several of Mr. Dobell's contracts overlap to the point that it appears there may be a direct conflict in the nature of his work."

Just Say No to Wal-Mart and Big Box Stores
COPE - The Coalition of Progressive Electors - On Thurs, July 06, 2006, at 7:30 pm, Vancouver City Council will hold a special meeting to hear what you, the people of Vancouver, think about retaining the Highway Oriented Retail (HOR) zoning on SE Marine Drive that currently allows Big Box stores.
A Big Box zone on SE Marine Drive will create more traffic and air pollution, increase asthma rates in children, generate more greenhouse gas emissions, and drive small neighbourhood stores out of business.

Vision Vancouver's Transit Goals: Free Downtown Bus, Broadway Rapid Transit
Vision Vancouver - News Release - "We've made great progress over the past three years with a new transit line, 268 new buses and new late night routes," said Green. "We must do more and my priorities for the next three years include a downtown free-fare zone and extending the Millennium line to Granville.
"A modern dynamic city requires modern transportation that's efficient and sustainable. We can't risk going back to the NPA approach of service cuts and transit neglect."

Vancouver's Green to Expand Job, Training for Homeless, Street Youth, Income Assistance Recipients
Vision Vancouver - A Vision Vancouver city council will expand job creation incentives to create employment for long-term unemployed and underemployed Vancouverites, Vision Vancouver mayoral candidate Jim Green said today. The program, which will support the Four Pillars strategy, is a key part of Green's plan to make Vancouver a safe, secure city that offers opportunity to everyone,
"I call this the fifth pillar," said Green. "Without training, employment and on-the-job support we'll never reduce poverty, addiction and crime for long. Over the last three years, weve piloted very successful programs that create employment opportunities through development. If I'm elected mayor I'll expand those programs, based on current incentives and targets."
